Protect Your Trailer with iStorage

About Trailer Storage

Your trailer makes so many tasks simpler. Moving a piece of furniture or a large appliance like a refrigerator or stove is easier and less expensive than maneuvering them in and out of a pickup truck or renting a moving truck. Getting your boat to the river or lake is as easy as hitching the trailer to the back of your car and loading the boat. When you're not using it, though, you have to find a place to keep it. Letting it sit in your driveway may violate rules of your homeowners association or may take up more space than you like. Or it may be fine while the weather is nice, but repeated exposure to rain and wind or extended time spent in the cold of winter can cause rust or other damage.

The trailer storage facilities at iStorage provide drive-up access and locations near the entrance of the facility that make picking it up fast, and most have 24/7 access so you can retrieve your trailer whenever you like.

Tips for Storing Your Trailer

Lock Your Trailer

One simple step makes storing your trailer even more secure - locking it with a trailer hitch lock.

Protect Your Tires

Tire covers provide protection from the environment. Lighter colors will keep them cooler than dark colors and preserve them longer. Make sure your tires are inflated to the recommended tire pressure. If its left stationary for too long, the tires could develop flat spots as the weight of the trailer presses down on the tires' footprints.

Wash It

Give your trailer a good cleaning before placing it in storage. Water stains or bird droppings left on the trailer can damage the paint. Make sure to clean the wheels and fenders to get rid of grease and mud.

Make sure your trailer is completely dry then cover it with a breathable tarp to reduce damage from harsh weather.
