On Storage Facility Health & Safety During COVID-19 with Melissa T., Manager of iStorage Farmington Hills.

Things Matter. The COVID-19 pandemic has been an opportunity for us to expand our rental options, enhance our attention to detail, and find even more creative ways to serve our beloved iStorage customers. We’ve made nation-wide changes to our practices that follow expert advice from the CDC in addition to adjustments for each state/municipality to ensure that we are doing the best we can for every community we serve.

We’ve asked our amazing property managers to send in some photos of the new health & safety practices in action at their properties:

We also chatted with the manager of iStorage Farmington Hills, Melissa T., for a better look into the day-to-day of serving storage customers:

On helping new customers navigating a new place for their things:

“I have definitely helped when I could to find the perfect unit for people during the pandemic. I eased their mind that we have been completely contactless and sanitized everything touched including keypads and any merchandise sold to them. I have put their merchandise safely in their unit for them to retrieve after rental. Customers safety is my number one priority.”

On ensuring safety:

“I have tried my best to maintain a safe environment and clean for any new rental by sanitizing to ensure we help to fight any risk of infection. [Some of our customers were unable to visit their unit, so when they called] I ensured [them] that I am still checking their locks twice a day AM and PM to make sure all units are secure and not tampered with.”

On the essential nature of storage:

“You can always buy new items, but I have come to realize the majority or belongings stored are memories. Most items are of sentimental value that can never be replaced, and for that, I believe we are an essential business so we can keep those important things protected daily.”
